This would have been a good Mazda2 replacement.

Verisa is a Mazda2, just larger and more upmarket. It's a shame no one else sees it, but I'm happy to wait for both next-gens to be global exports, as the rumour mill would have it. Forget the source, as always...

Front view of the white car looks really nice. I love the interior but its identical to that of the facelifted Fiesta interior i think, aside from steering wheel. Also front headlamps look as if they were taken straight from the Fiesta. Weird

No i doubt it. I think this car is based on current Mazda 2/Fiesta platform. And if what i heard is correct, next gen of Fiesta might not share same platform with Mazda2

I'm shocked that Mazda hasn't released this or the Mazda2 in NA. With the market moving toward smaller cars and with the Mazda3 being one of the more expensive cars in its class it would bring sales.

The next Fiesta WILL share its platform with the next Mazda2, which will be based on the Sassou concept.

It's funny, I think Mazda's "Zoom-Zoom" campaign might preclude the introduction of such a sober design to the NA market. This car's overall shape is so staid and conservative it might sink in a market that's becoming a 'style' competition... The next Xb is going to be an attention getter, the Mazda3 is VERY sporty, the Fit is realtively aggressive but the Verisa... well although it possesses wonderful details (especially in the front) I feel it's too practical and understated to compete in the blooming American small-car market. I happen to think it's quite handsome.
From a design perpsective, this car REALLY looks like a minature Porsche Cayenne. It's so incredibly no-frills and efficient that it reminds me of old Subaru... a car this size with simple styling, similar packaging and AWD would make a perfect sub-Impreza offering.

I love the interior on all Mazda's. They're very sporty looking with the materials and colors they use. Even their cheapest models (in terms of US vehicles) have interiors that you would find in something a bit more upmarket in other brands.

Like i said before, interior seems to be mostly lifted off from the current Ford Fiesta, including two-tone interior. Differences i can see is the shiny black plastic on the centre console and Mazda steering wheel. Quality in Fiesta and Mazda2 is not nearly as high as that of other competitors, eveb though recent Fiesta (so this one as well i guess) made improvements

Their are similarities, but the mazda is quite different and much nicer and more upmarket in my opinion. I think any similarities are just generic current fashion trends.
http://www.netcarshow.com/ford...6.htm

And since both cars are siblings its only natural that they share components. This car already uses the pre-facelifted Fiesta's headlamps. And i havent read any review yet, at least from UK website or publication, that said the Mazda2 interior was of great quality.

From what I've read what FoMoCo CEO Bill Ford said recently Ford is working with Mazda on a next-generation B-segment car, which will spawn new versions of the Ford Fiesta (which will be sold in the USA!) and Mazda2 (which also will be sold in the USA). I've heard rumors we could see the new Fiesta officially announced as early as NAIAS in January 2007.

For crying out loud ok, maybe the use of the word "same" was used too liberaly from me and i appologise. But the lightclusters from the two cars seem pretty much "same". You could easily imagine these lights on a Fiesta and not tell a big difference.
Here is a pic of the facelifted Fiesta..even the new revised lights with clear clusters looks similar. Take the transparency away or even check older cars headlamp-clusters
[img=http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/6179/fiestawa3.th.jpg]

Modified by CosworthKid at 6:22 PM 8/7/2006
