Shaped like an inverted 'L', its hinges are mounted well into the load area so the tailgate rises almost vertically. Kia claims the design gives better access to the load area.
Like the regular hatchback, the sport wagon still looks tame when compared to the rakish original cee'd concept. But we find it a more pleasing design, if only because our expectations of an estate version would be more limited.
The cee'd sport wagon will be built at Kia's plant in Slovakia. It will be shown at the Paris motor show but won't go on sale until September 2007. That's a full nine months after the regular hatchback, which hits showrooms this December.
Autocar

it looks like a Mazda3 ripoff via fronts and sides. It looks kinda iffy in back.

Hmm I see pug 407 in the rear C/D pillar. How much more space does that have than the hatch in the rear? doesn't look like much.

Not more than 50L I guess.

Kia has released pictures of its next all-new C-segment model, the estate-bodied cee’d sport wagon which will be shown in public for the first time at the Mondial de L’Automobile in Paris next week.
Due to go into full production in the middle of 2007 and on sale throughout Europe from next September, the vehicle is the next in Kia’s European-designed, European-engineered cee’d line-up to be built at the Zilina factory in Slovakia.
The 4470 mm long, 1490 mm high, car features a tailgate shaped like an inverted ‘L’ with its hinges set back over the load area so the tailgate rises almost vertically, giving enhanced access to the large-capacity cargo area that has additional storage below the floor.
The vehicle has the same 2650 mm wheelbase as the five-door hatchback cee’d that makes its world premiere in production-ready form at the Paris Motor Show and goes on sale in Europe from December 2006.
When the new model goes on sale next September, customers will be offered an extensive choice of five engines, three trim/equipment levels and 12 exterior colours.
The introduction of the cee’d family – five-door, estate and three-door ‘sporty hatch’ – marks a major turning point in Kia’s history and will introduce a qualitative revolution for the brand.

Now if it really doesn't offer more than 50 L of extra boot space, i'd stick with the hachback, as this is easily the uggliest (actually 5door is ok, 3door really nice) of the 3 versions so far....

The front is toned down from the concept.
Does anybody else think it has the headlights of an Altima, and the side windows of a Murano?
It looks nice. The concept nose would have been better.

I really hope if Cee'd Sedan coming as well it would be much better than Rio sedan which would look similar to this and hatchback too.

Isnt the Rio smaller... this would be a Corolla competitor... the Rio is a Yaris competitor aint it.... if u meant Cerato then i agree... this looks alot better then it.. and would compete well with its wide variety of models to be available

Rio is based on the Accent. Cee'd is bigger, it's in the C segment.

rear end isn't very good... 407sw pillar, lower part of the light is similar to a skoda, upper part to volvo... it's a mess... :?

I see Skoda Fabia and Volvo V70 in the rear...and I don't like those windows that branch off from the taillights. Other then that it's a solid effort...any change we'll be seeing this or other cars from the Cee'd lineup in the States?

Neither has been confirmed but Hyundai brand will be here in the US, according to various sources; Kias will stay in Europe until confirmed otherwise.
Early shots tell the whole story, mostly the unique styling between Hyundais and Kias
I like the whole lineup, and I'm glad Hyundai/Kia effectively used the platform to branch off several variants.

Is it on its own unique platorm or it uses the Elantra platform? I would not be surprised that the Cee'd does make it to the USA with a unique front end badged as a Hyundai model, likely powered by the 2.4-liter 161 bhp engine/5-speed automatic drivetrain used on the Kia Optima model.
