I really think it would not be called CrossGolf officially, it could be called CrossGulf instead (According to autoweek.com).
EDIT: I also found out from carscoop that the unofficial name for now there is 'Golf Plus Cross'.

Kuules, Phaeton made this on Industry news and rumors thread few hours ago and it says:
"Posted here due to Ascariss deleting other original thread in New Car section on reason of no press release.
Which I expect to be unveiled in 2-3 days then this can be moved to desired section."

Also i send those pics there from the same website 30 minutes earlier.
So that means this thread has made overdue here. Sorry mate.
BTW, looks great though.

I think there is room in the USA for a CrossRabbit provided they can deliver this at a low price. The Tiguan will no doubt hit 30k easily. A CrossRabbit loaded FWD for 20k would be great and throw on AWD at 22k and it would be a sensation.
I can't see it's place in the line up. There will be an actual crossover based on the Golf, the Tiguan. There's no need for this mpv thingy. :)

Cute little car. I think it would work in the U.S., too, but preferably with some kind of permanent AWD. The interior looks great, and are those BBS wheels?
new lights, with the indicators in a strip at the base of the light.
very much like the golf

If they sell just a few cars more, perfect, but the real deal will be those Golf Plus customers going for the Cross package, paying extra 100s or even 1000s of Euros for some extra decoration (with only the bigger wheels probably costing a bit more), same deal as with cross Polo - a pure cash cow.

So is this just a trim package for the Golf Plus? Basically slightly raised suspension and trim bits that make it look like a mudder? Kind of like that car that Rover did before they went out of business.
If this is only FWD, then it's kind of inexcussable for VW, seeing that they have Audi's AWD drive trains to borrow from. At the very lease AWD should be offered as an option on this.

There were rumours that an AWD option would come for the Cross Golf, to fill the gap below the Tiguan.
But taking into account how many Korean and Japanese SUVs are sold as FWD in europe if offered, market might just be satisfied with the looks.

This is just like the CrossPolo. It's a trim package. Nothing major.

Quote, originally posted by VW @ Paris Press Release (CrossGolf) »

Volkswagen is celebrating the world premiere of the new CrossGolf at the Paris Motor Show. It merges the can-do qualities of a compact SUV with the versatility of a small MPV into a new crossover model.
SUV means “Sports Utility Vehicle”, denoting a more “civilian” take on the “tough” cross-country vehicle. In terms of body the CrossGolf shares the same can-do spirit with this vehicle. Approx. 480,000 compact SUVs were sold in Europe in 2005. MPV means “Multi Purpose Vehicle”, referring to a van. With its versatile and spacious interior the CrossGolf also bridges this segment. Just under 1.4 m compact SUVs were sold in Europe in 2005. SUV and MPV – the new CrossGolf is positioned between these poles.
The front-wheel drive only CrossGolf is based on the Golf Plus. And that’s why the CrossGolf also features practical details such as a folding back seat that can be moved lengthwise, folding tables on the backs of the front seats and pigeonholes below, an elevated seating position and the basic four doors and large hatchback. The new kid on the block features parallels to the SUV world on the outside. Characterizing the CrossGolf here are special side coverings, independent bumpers and 20 mm higher ground clearance, including 17” wheels and much more.
For the European market launch in November the Volkswagen featuring an air-conditioning system as standard equipment will be available with two gasoline-powered engines (1.6 + 1.4 TSI) and two turbodiesel engines (1.9 TDI + 2.0 TDI) with output ranging from 75 kW / 102 PS to 103 kW / 140 PS. Like all Golfs, the new model will have the ESP stabilization system including counter-steering feature and trailer stabilization, ABS along with brake assistant and six airbags as standard equipment..
