Hmmm, looks like the vent integrated into the rear of the front fenders is gone...
That's rather unfortunate, since it not only added more character to the design, it also could have been quite functional (funcitonality having been the creed of EVOs past...)

I wonder if the teaser sketch-to-sheetmetal transition will be as disappointing as it was with the normal Lancer. Perhaps not, but I won't get my hopes up.
Considering that the the EVO will actually be a beefed up regular Lancer, it can't be too different.

I wonder if they will use this headlight design instead of the one on Lancer.

Yes, I know. We're only discussing about the design and about how many surprises can it bring compared to the regular Lancer.

I misunderstood the subject of your statement.
Mitsubishi is limited by the formula (4-door, AWD, 4-cylinder Turbo) and by the hardpoint requirements of the platform.
That said, previous EVO's offered different hoods, aluminum roof, wider front and rear fenders to accomodate the wider track, different grille, airdam, headlights, taillights, functional aerodynamic elements, and various cooling vents and ducts.
As such, it would seem that the sketch (as exaggerated as it appears) may actually be quite accurate. Of course, we will see the real thing in just over 2 weeks...
Either way, just as BMW can't make the M3 or M5 look much different from the base versions (for different reasons of course - BMW formula), Mitsubishi is limited to how much they can differentiate the EVO from the base Lancer.
In my humble opinion, the Prototype X looks very close to the concept (minus the cooling vent) and that is, as far as I'm concerened, a very good thing.

You know what? The sketch for the normal lancar proved to be sooo WRONG... it was a beautiful sketch, and an ugly car. I can only hope that this car lives up to it's sketch.

So it seems its just the normal Lancer with the usual Evo bodykit treatment? So nothing out of the ordinary then and it seems the pics above (that the1 hoped it was the actual Evo) are not entirely it..? I need to see a rear view of the car, anyone has pics????

That is sexy! When VII came out I didn't like it that much because I loved the V and VI but it grew on me. This thing is love at first sight.

I dont know this just does not do it for me. I was looking at some of the Hi-Res pics and its got this awesome agressive front end (with a long overhang) but you follow it to the greenhouse and that just kills it. The greenhouse/cabin just looks wimpy, maybe it will grow on me but first impressions are not good.

Well it's essentially what we expected, which is a good thing. We all knew the lancer would look the way it "should" with bigger wheels, wider fenders, and a more aggressive body kit. The interior is fitting, too. Hopefully this is the very, very thinly digsuised production version. If it loses anything in the transition between the concept and the showroom floor, it may not get the attention Mitsubishi needs.

Well it will certainly lose the all-alcantara interior, but I'm pretty sure the exterior save for the new headlamps are 100% production.

What the Evo and Lancer need is the concept front lights... i really liked them...
Has the Ralliart version been revealed? i would its similar to this like how the WRX and WRX STi are similar.

Me too... it's quite lovely but... but, well, it just doesn't look sinister enough for me. It's definitely aggressive, but it has lost some of the menace... some of the danger. Part of the Evo's appeal was that it looked rabid, almost sick. Like a car that had taken some bad juice. You knew it could do awful things if you upset it. This car looks a little too composed to be as erotic as the previous version. Know what I mean? I think it's looks too tall and blunt to be as viscious as the IX.

is it me or in one of the interior photos, there is an automatic shifting area?
I know many die hard evo and manual friends are going to hate me for this but i am so estatic that the evo, if it is true and they plan to keep it that way, will have an available automatic option! woohooo!!!

Its good but..what happened to the huge exhaust pipes and the Manga styling of the rear end?
Id still buy one though, i love Evos and this one is awesome, i was just expecting the X to be a break in tradition and be much wilder
They kind of toned it down too much compared to the original concept. It's still great, but could have been a lot better.
