Production version will probably have the same design as the Cee'd hatchback - http://www.motorauthority.com/...n.jpg
compared to the concept version of it - http://www.motormania.sk/multi...d.jpg
Without the glitzy lights, mirrors and wheels, it would be pretty close.
Wow, awesome! I hope that this will come to production!

Kia should invest a little more money into the production version and keep the front end as is, chrome and fancy headlights and all. This thing would really stand out. It looks amazing.
It's a shame that it would most definitely be watered down if it makes it to production.
And I love that grill!!!

WOW! kinda reminds me of MB SLK.. but the thing i hate is when kia/hyundai makes a concept that looks delicious and seems like it could be production, but then take out all the stuff that makes the car look good. Their production model looks like the concept but, its just not the same thing. I understand if those wheels and maybe those projectors will not make it into production but they should keep the grille, front bumper, headlights, rear lights, but i dont know maybe this time they will. Just look at the accent concept and then look how it really turned out, i dont want to see that happen this time.

Modified by Ultomato at 9:16 PM 2/22/2007

Modified by Ultomato at 9:17 PM 2/22/2007

A little chunky, but considering what I expected when I read the thread title, I'm pleasantly surprised. A cheap four-place convertible in the spirit of the late VW Cabriolet would be a wonderful offering in the NA market, and has the potential to do a lot for Kia's brand image. Build it!!

That looks quite short, nearer to a 206cc rather than to a 307cc. Anyone knows that figures?

I know it's a fat chance for this to be real reason, but let's stay open minded

that looks great.... Kia is on a roll with these C-eed variety concepts.... and the production versions too....
The stylists in Europe are doin an awesome job for Kia.... hopefully more of their cars are designed by them

Proof for me that fabric roof convertibles are way more pretty than CCs...
My only sorrow: All Hyundai group concept cras look really nice in concept form, but are dramatically tamed down for production. Even, if like in this case here, it looks pretty much production ready. Sometimes i have the impression that there is someone sitting in korea saying "hey, that looks so good, it could be an Audi or so - let's inject some Hyundai Accent cheapness, so everyone knows it's from Korea"...
Sad, cause this looks really nice - and considering a typical Kia price tag (& 7 years warranty), a great option for me....
This was designed by ex Audi designer Peter Schreyer. And it looks really sexy!
God job,Peter!

looks great but we've seen the production version of what it will basically look like and its gonna be a let down... i think if they had a luxury brand, that could pass, but unfortunately this is another poo.

I don't know, but the whole Cee'd family looks promising so far, concept or production.
We all know many of features on the show car are not realistic for production, even if the car itself is production ready (seems like this is), such as the ride height, safety, cost, etc...
And may I ask what a luxury brand has to do with concept-to-production transition? I don't follow...

The other poster stated:

Quote, originally posted by nstreet16 »

i think if they had a luxury brand, that could pass, but unfortunately this is another poo.

Maybe I misunderstood but my initial thought was, so it's okay for a luxury brand production to be watered down from the concept, but on a mainstream brand, it gets the ax?
Every concept-to-production vehicle has been watered down, to a degree, some more than others. I just don't think it is a fair assessment to write it off completely without even having the concept being unveiled yet. If there were a production model in the near future, is it going to be watered down? Sure, as certain items are dead-on not realistic in production form, from the show car, but yet we've concluded for certain it's going to be "another poo"

Well, thing is though that Kia/Hyundai are really great in totally watering down concept cars - i mean the ceed looks nice, but the concept looked much, much hotter. Same goes for Hyundai Accent 3 door & FD/Arnejs.
Given that those concept cars looked all pretty much production ready, it is a shame. Of course, everyone waters down for production, but Kia/Hyundai just do more than the avarage...

IIRC, the Accent 3 door wasn't exactly a direct product of the SR concept. At any rate, let's agree to disagree. I just feel we are being too critical and pre-mature to call off on something before we even seeing the news this would be built, before the first spy shot surfaces. If this is not association fallacy, then I don't know what is...
As for the ex-ceed, it looks great. Build it, and I will be putting my deposit for one

DOn't get me wrong, i love the Ex-Ceed, no question - i just fear that we won't see it like that on road - if I'm wrong, and it comes with the typical Kia price tag & 7 years of warranty, I#ll be among the first to get one.....

Hyundai released the SR trim for the Accent 3-door in Canada this month. I got to see it at the autoshow and it looks closer to the concept than the GS or the Sport trims. Here's a pic I took of it.

According to a reliable news source, Kia officials have said that they are in the process of gauging the feasibility of turning Ex-Cee'd concept into a production reality soon as the concept was in fact originally conceived in consideration to enhancing Kia's product localization as a part of their ongoing product strategies to meet buyer's diverse regional needs. Unfortunately, they did not mention NA as one of the target markets. However, the plans for the target markets could likely change depending on our enthusiasm from this side of the world IMO. It is also nice to report that Ex Cee'd has received a phenomenal attention from many car enthusiasts and retailers alike.
