The show kicks-off with 28 press conferences featuring some never-before-seen vehicles as well as many eagerly anticipated North American debuts. The show opens to the public at the conclusion of the press days Friday, Nov. 16 and runs through Nov. 25, including Thanksgiving Day.
(Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin...5LOGO)
"The show's new fall dates now make Los Angeles the first major North American stop of the auto show season, and as anticipated, manufacturers have taken advantage of this earlier timing by making more World and North American debuts than in previous years," said Andy Fuzesi, general manager of the LA Auto Show.
While most World debuts remain closely guarded until press days, a few manufacturers have announced their intentions including Hyundai's world premiere of a new sports car concept, Nissan's all-new, mid-size Murano crossover and Volkswagen's new mini-car concept design. Other Worldwide debuts are anticipated to include new hybrid editions and other advanced environmental technologies.
Among the vehicles making their first appearance on U.S. soil include, the completely new Jaguar XF luxury performance sedan and the entirely new BMW 1 Series coup. Performance enthusiasts also anxiously await an in-person view of the U.S. unveiling of Mitsubishi's tenth generation Lancer Evolution and Subaru's all-new WRX STI. And, finally arriving in the U.S. after much anticipation is Nissan's GT-R supercar.
Los Angeles has emerged as the main stage for luxury and exotic automakers to showcase their most elite vehicles partly due the fact that the Los Angeles region has highest concentration of luxury and exotic car buyers. The most expensive new vehicle to make its U.S. debut will be the US$1.4 million Lamborghini Reventon, hailed as the most powerful and expensive Lamborghini ever built. Ferrari will debut its new lightweight 430 Scuderia, Bentley will showcase its new and more powerful Continental GT Speed and Porsche will debut its most powerful 911, the new GT2.
Also of increasing importance, as consumer demand for more fuel efficient and environmentally positive vehicles grows exponentially, is the announcement of this year's Green Car of the Year(R). The winner of the 2008 Green Car of the Year (GCOY) award will be named during a press conference the morning of Nov. 15. The importance of this award is validated not only by the increase in consumer demand but by the rapid growth of low emission and environmentally-friendly new vehicles on the market. More vehicle choices require greater public education and the Green Car Journal's annual award helps consumers each year by identifying the top picks from leading industry environmental and automotive experts.
About the LA Auto Show
For the second year in a row, the Los Angeles Auto Show will be held in the fall. The show opens for media only Nov. 14 and 15. Public days run from Nov. 16-25 including Thanksgiving Day. Media registration is now open. Amazing... I just purchase a new Nissan Murano in 2006, and already a successor is being introduced in LA
The current Murano has been around since MY2003 anyhow. What we see in LA should be a MY2009 Murano intro. The next-generation Maxima should be on deck, put perhaps the debut will be later on; at another venue and during calender-year 2008.
There should be a lot of fine premieres in LA now that it's in November and no longer in the shadows of NAIAS in Detroit. Of course, we'll have SEMA and Tokyo to go through first, and those are good things!

Damn! I'll JUST miss it. By like, 2 days! :(

I believe a next-generation Z will be on deck, but likely debut in NY very likely, who knows. I would figure the Maxima to be at NYIAS; which is said to be larger (Avalon sized and a CLS-like design).
I would figure Infiniti to hold some debuts over this show season being they announced several models to be introduced over a period of time, like the next Q flagship sedan and others.
I'm sure we'll be hearing about some specific LA debuts over the next few weeks.

I wonder will this auto show be the US debut of the second-generation Honda Fit in US-model trim? Or is Honda waiting for NAIAS in January 2008?

I suppose some debuts we'll see in LA in week in a half from this post are Hyundai Genesis/BH production sedan, the near-production concept RWD coupe/Tiburon successor, the 09 Sonata, the production Lincoln MKS, Toyota next-generation Sequoia, Kia Mesa, Audi Q5 and next-generation Nissan Murano, to name a few.
I'm sure there's more and correct me if I'm wrong on any of the mentioned premieres I listed, which are first time debuts and not North American intros.

Confirmed world debuts so far:
Audi Q5
Ford Mustang Bullitt
Hyundai Genesi Coupe Concept
Lincoln MKS
Nissan Murano
Pontiac Vibe
Toyota Sequoia
Year 2057 Designs - http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=24336
-------
Hyundai Genesis/BH production sedan and Kia Mesa (Mojave/Mohave) are both debuting at NAIAS, although there is a good chance we will get a glimpse prior from its home market. The 09 Sonata, not sure.

The move from late december to mid november is a nice move for the la show, less cludder of press releases as it always was.
A NA debut would of course be the BMW 1 series coupe but that is dead ringer from the press release.
The BH will probably debut at NAIAS, unless a model will be in the back for journalists to look at.
One more week till the show.

speaking of the vibe, its debuting online in about an hour...
11-06-2007, 12:38 PM
Agreed. You going to be there Ascariss?
Us North Americans are going to see a lot of vehicles debuted at Frankfurt/Tokyo (i.e. 1er, Mazda6, Up! concept)

I wish I could go to LA for the show, but a bit too expensive hehe.
11-06-2007, 01:14 PM
I wonder what the production Honda FCX will be like; we'll know in a week and a half from now.
Will it stray very far from the original concept and the follow-up generation which looks to be more of a runner. What territories will it be sold to and will there be infrastructure to support it, being it's supposed to be fuel-cell?
Am I accurate on that info?

I'm surprised how few we have seen up to this point - just the Murano so far?
