The FJ is better equipped to go offroad than the Xterra. But, overall, I like the Xterra more.

maybe not the plush US version, but there are cheaper stripped versions w/ steel wheels and vinyl interiors ( used by UN, etc )

That, and also, wether or not you would want to take your car offroad has nothing to do with wether or not the car is CAPABLE offroad.
I wouldn't take my New Ferrari at over 150km/h but that doesn't mean its not capable of doing so....

Im lost too...
Naga, I think the 75 and 78 Land Cruisers are the original square boxy ones, whilst the LC100 is 5 door, IFS, coil sprung one and the real seller here. There's no SWB version of it - all there is is a mainstream version of it with leafs and part time 4X4 - a dishonourable downgrade really....

There is, however, as SWB version of the 120/Prado (which happens to be a 3-door).

I'd say Xterra ( that hurt, it hurt alot) simply because it has a 4 low. Granted the FJ has great approach and departure angles, but the Xterra does it all, and has 6 gears.

You may be talking about the Landcruiser Prado, also known as Land Cruiser 90 and the long wheelbase as Landcruiser 120 which was offered in 2 wheelbases, 5 door and 3 door, with a 3.6 V6, 2.7 I4 or 3 Liter Diesel. However the New Landcruiser Prado is only offered as LWB. Then you are including in there the Land Cruiser 100 which is the 4.7 V8 or 3 Liter Turbodiesel, but which is slightly longer, wider and more capable than the LandCruiser Prado. Then you're also including the standard version of the Land Cruiser 100 which is a Land Cruiser 100's body mounted on a hybrid of Land Cruiser 75, 78, 79 and Land Cruiser Prado Mechanicals. You are also including the LandCruiser 75 which is the 2 door bush bashing Land Cruiser, which is of course the SWB of the Land Cruiser 78 which is for 11 people, also known as LandCruiser Troop-carrier. Which is of course the same Land Cruiser 79, but with a wagon body, not a high capacity pickup bed (although it can also be ordered as a standard pickup bed, called LandCruiser 74 and Landcruiser 75 Traybed). It is of course the same car behind the Land Cruiser 80 which evolved and was soon offered as well as a Landcruiser 85, which of course became the Land Cruiser Prado, or Land Cruiser 120.

Anyone spot why It's easy to get lost?
(and Thats without including models not in sale any more and without including the Landcruiser Lexii)

They are alright but the suspension is a joke once the going gets tough. I love them, but just that keeps it from matching the Landcruiser prado.

ISUZU TROOPER!!!!! Well they were at least for their time..... especially the 80s models, those were great. But since they never replaced the Trooper, I would say the best one available now is some version of the Land Cruiser.

Troopers were good, but certainly not the best. They also suffered from a poor suspension setup and awkward wheel placement, but it was certainly in the top picks....
We nearly bought one but it was too small and expensive...
