Well, a look at the 2007 Aviator adds fuel to that debate. The model is based on a small Mazda chassis--almost nothing that you see in this vehicle is Lincoln. But underneath is an upscale V6 engine, four-wheel drive and all the chassis control amenities of a luxury crossover. The Aviator will downsize but it will not simply be a modified version of the Ford Freestyle. Instead, Lincoln will borrow heavily from the small Mazda van chassis and build an all-new appearance. Two keys to identifying this early test vehicle are the wider fender openings that accept larger wheels and the wheels themselves, lifted from the current Aviator design.<p>Source: PM<p><A HREF="http://www.kris.1000lecie.pl/dream1/2004%20Lincoln%20Aviator%20concept-fVr%20at%20show=mx=.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.kris.1000lecie.pl/d...=.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.kris.1000lecie.pl/dream1/2004%20Lincoln%20Aviator%20concept-rVr=mx=.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.kris.1000lecie.pl/d...=.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.kris.1000lecie.pl/dream1/2004%20Lincoln%20Aviator%20concept-sVr=mx=.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.kris.1000lecie.pl/d...=.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.mcarsweb.com/lincoln/aviator.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.mcarsweb.com/lincoln/aviator.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.mcarsweb.com/lincoln/aviatorc.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.mcarsweb.com/lincoln/aviatorc.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.mcarsweb.com/lincoln/aviatorb.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.mcarsweb.com/lincoln/aviatorb.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://a1112.g.akamai.net/7/1112/492/2002091473/www.wired.com/news/images/full/lincoln-aviator-2_f.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://a1112.g.akamai.net/7/11...f.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.autointell.net/Events/naias-2004/naias-2004-daily/lincoln-aviator/lincoln-aviator-interior-800.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.autointell.net/Even...0.jpg</A><p><A HREF="http://www.autointell.net/Events/naias-2004/naias-2004-daily/lincoln-aviator/lincoln-aviator-show-top-front-800.jpg" TARGET="_blank">http://www.autointell.net/Even...0.jpg</A><p>

"downscaled" or not, this thing will sell much better than a half-assed Explorer re-skin.
