2018 Toyota Camry
|
I simply CANNOT w/ all these ridiculous roof designs. That's not even a floating roof. That's like trompe l'oeil to make it look like there's no roof at all! Argh.
Fortunately, the actual shape and stance of the car are actually quite nice. WIsh they gave a tiny bit more room btw the end of front wheelwell and front door. If the interior plastics are halfway decent, then the interior will be quite nice. A bit heavy handed w/ the styling, but at least it's not too bizarre. The 3.5L engine lives (for now)!!! I hope they retune the suspension for both a more compliant ride and better body roll. The ride in the SE I rented was both a bit crusty and a bit roll-y. http://www.carscoops.com/2017/01/201...apter-for.html I give them kudos on the interior...I think: https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j7q-NBV_3...18-Camry-6.jpg BUT WHAT IS THIS: https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fDfBO20Jo...18-Camry-5.jpg |

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/01/201...apter-for.html The exterior is oddball. The massive intake under the nose is unnecessary. The crease in the C pillar is weird and the overall shape of the glasshouse, especially the C pillar gives off a saab 9-3 vibe. That vent or design element that comes off the rear light is ridiculous. |

The intake under the nose is ridiculous.. it has more blades than my razor. The face itself is evolutionary at best.
I DO like the tail end - much more than I thought I would. Also - the roof is nice; and very, very, very Optima in execution - that is not a bad thing at all. I actually do like the interior; it's definitely funky - and I applaud their efforts. I'd like to see it in the flesh before casting final judgement as the picture effects had more 'softening lenses' than an episode of Desperate Hoursewives. |
The interior looks good and is a massive improvement over the current car, but the exterior is a mess. I wish Toyota would just use the Avalon as a template for all their cars. After seeing this, the Prius and the facelifted Corolla it's a wonder that it's as attractive as it is.
