Something to look forward to, and I'm not sure if the next-generation XJ will be solely electric, or have a variant with an internal combustion engine. I've seen some reports on that in the past, nothing confirmed. I'm just hoping, as a flagship, that they don't downsize it, keep the same size and footprint, even if the proportions differ as a result of being an EV.

It needs to look like an XJ. The Merkur Scorpio homage did Jaguar no favors. The Bertone B99 would have been genius. It cannot look like a big ungainly hatchback.

Unfortunately it seems form what we see that Jaguar will pull an Audi/BMW/Mercedes and just send the XE/XF through a photocopier with a110% scale up setting, add some new light graphics and call it a day....

That "scaling" is part of the branding. Being able to immediately identify a vehicle helps sales, apparently.
