that odd second set of taillights looks like a mutation but other than that i think they nailed it. just bring back a removable top and a manual. also build a 3 row version called Discovery and kill the rest of the Discovery lineup!

The DLO is a disaster with that floating blotch.

It has a strong early 2000s concpet car vibe, and whilst not a total win, there is a lot to like about the design, and utilitarian stuff like the steelies or the optional 3rd front seat instead of a very wide center console;

My only gripe is the Defender name; If this had been the DIscovery 5 (or even replacing that blob as a Disco 6), this would amazing; But between this party of customization (kind of like a Mini Cooper for the wannabe red neck) and general designer SUV appeal, and the Defender name, seems to be quite a gap for me....

If you don't like it, they'll happily sell you a version without it:

I love it. But it does literally block out the majority of the rear window on the 2 door version.

The more I look at it the more I fall in love with it. It has some nice throwback touches to the original while giving it a modern look.

I feel the same after taking some time to digest everything. The design, combined with the impressive amount of technology and off-road capabilities, make this a worthy successor. It isn't perfect of course but it is a major step up from the previous gen.

Agreed. This continues to grow on me. It was such an iconic model that people were going to have issues with it no matter what Land Rover did.

Would make a great storage cabinet door for quick exterior access to high powered hand guns for those Max Max trips to oblivion.

Or maybe sliding glass for the third row? I get that they needed to break up the long greenhouse, but having a square, painted floatin gpillar with no function just doesn't seem right for a Defender. I generally like this car a lot, but I wish it was more utilitarian overall.
