hey crapilac, where is the Escalade Sport? A smaller, sleeker, but still square Escalade for a the yoga moms waiting for some d**k?

While you are at it how about the Escalade City, a mini Escalade to butt heads with the RR Evoke and Macan based on the excellent ATS frame?

Wake up dips**ts.

Gotchya. GM clearly puts their best minds over in Corvette and Racing development some with the trucks and the rest of those idiots run amok of everything else. The VP of HR became the CEO, that just doesn't sit right.

The Escalade is legitimately iconic, with strong brand value, here GM is one of the worst copy cat acts in history and cant even put 2 and 2 together on this.

A history of GM's copy cattery :

Toyota MR2 -> Fiero
Miata -> Solstice, Sky
3 Series -> ATS
Retro Mustang -> Retro Camaro
SC 430 -> XLR
PT Cruiser -> HHR
Navigator -> Escalade

And the list goes on, Escalade as a brand could step right up to the Range Rover lineup. The present Escalade's chiseled boxiness would make a really sweet compact SUV.

I'd say the MR2 and Fiero were pretty much at the same time, but both copied concept, format and basic design of the Fiat X 1/9;

And the Cadillac XLR was more a direct Mercedes SL answer than a Lexus copy (the 2+2 seat SC IMO going more against the Jaguar XK and other non sporting gran tourers, which are not a lot of customers, thus no success);

But otherwise yes, they were usually reacting and not acting, except with the Corvette back in the 50ies, and especially than turning into a sports car in the 60ies); The Pontiac GTO also pretty much defined the muscle car term, but again, that is a long time ago....

GM even had that awful Code 130R concept as a response to the BRZ while the Ford Transit scared them into action on the Chevrolet City Express.

The list just goes on. Their engineers were looking specifically at the years defunct E46 for the ATS. The results was great, but does anyone want such a small premium car?
