Maybe like the old Cobra R it could be 2 seater(less weight?)

I also think they should call it a Shelby GT500R... sort of like the old GT350R

They should and most likely will do this, if the past is any indication.

All the Mustang stroke sites are all gaga over this idea... but the problem remains is that the Mustang is obese.. the Shelby is morbidly obese... and Ford doesn't have an engine competitive with the LS2. Until a new engine is available, a real rear suspension is released (the IRS was designed then put ont he shelf.. see my site for pics), and the car looses a heckuva lot of weight.. there is no hope for anything like an "R" model.

The Mustang is a pony car that gives an insane amount of bang for the buck. It performs as well as some cars costing a lot more and outperforms most cars in its price range. The Mustang isn't a Corvette or an M3. Could the Shelby be lighter? Yes. Is it morbidly obese? No way. Look at the porkers coming from Porsche, Mercedes and BMW that masquerade as high performance cars. Hyperbole is great, but the light of the cold hard real world says different. Many cars today are a lot heavier than they ought to be. Thus to impune one to the exclusion of the others is bashing.
