Default 2019 Chevrolet Blazer

Honestly was not even expecting this to debut. Dare I say it almost looks exciting for Chevy.

That is absolutely HIDEOUS and wrong in every conceivable way.

I can hear the design studio head saying "I want to do a mashup of the Camaro and the Lexus RX and make it as ungainly as hell."

There is so much going on here... I donít know what it is? It feels like the Pontiac Grand Am with full plastic add one ďover the topĒ if that makes any sense. Accordingly, itíll likely sell boat loads.

I donít see it aging well though...

Doesn't Chevy have a recent concept that sort of looks like this?

I have mixed feelings. The Camaro-inspired version is way, WAY too hard. I'm one of the few who doesn't seem to mind Chevy's new face, so I like (what I assume is) the standard version.

There's actually some elegance to the way the hood transitions to the front fender and doors (at least in the silver version, maybe it's just lighting) and the side surfacing.

All of that is ruined, though, by the tragic D-pillar. Yeah, I get it; floating roofs are "in." But this is like the XC40's floating roof done all WRONG. Argh.

Interior is somber but functional. It moves away from the Playskool look of the Malibu.

I actually think this is a perfectly respectable design (mostly). How much does it cost to change a D-pillar???

There was this which had a much better execution I feel.

As for the D pillar, probably a lot to redesign it and wouldn't happen in a facelift. Curious how well this will do in the market place.

Couldn't they have called it Nova instead of raping the Blazer name?

Agreed but name aside, this will be a huge hit. Jeep and Hyundai take note, this is how you do upper DRL with actual headlight incorporated into fog light area. Finally a nice clean interior from Chevy.

A nice enough, but also quite unremarkable mid size cross over, that certainly goes with time. But I have to agree, who on earth thought that putting the Blazer name on this is a great idea? Mitsubishi's Eclipse was quite bad as well, but what's next? The Corvette compact CUV? Ford EcoSport rebranded as GT40? The Jeep Grand Wagoneer badge on a Fiat Panda?

Otherwise, whilst nice, the exterior is somehow a 50-50 mix of Mazda CX-5 and Lexus NX, and the interior designer has clearly been in a Mercedes C/GLC and liked it....
