Very nice. At most other car companies this would still be a concept, even though it's not as advanced as BMW's original concept of this.

serious question, what does this do better than a Model S, besides accelerate 0.5 seconds quicker to 60? Doubt anyone is buying it for race track duty....

Exactly what i thought. No doubt that the i8 will be much more of a driver's car that the Model S, but still i don't see the point. You can see it like this: the i8 would be like, say, a Cayman. And the S would be like, say, a high end Panamera. Except that the Cayman would be much more expensive than the Panamera. Nonsense.
