I absolutely agree. This might be great for France where rolling eyesores like the Citroen Cactus are celebrated, but the Hyundai CherokeeAztek is not a pretty face.

Prime example of an overdone design - too much overstyled details that don't go well together.
It's like they wanted to have a bit of everything in this car - dynamic , rather clean silhouette( a bit Mazda like) mixed with quirky details (like a Citroen). It simply doesn't mix well.

please... appearance of Cactus (especially live) is downright cute, incomparably more coherent and far less "pretentious"! while this... well... is not!
this -though it is slightly ungrateful to judge car's design from such lousy photos- unfortunately seems overdone and tacky... though not because it has DLR's placed above headlamps like Cactus, but because of rather pretentious and sadly ungainly design details that "accompany" this Cactus/Cherokee feature! it simply is an incoherent mess of holes, folds, edges, awkward plastic&chrome claddings, thrown over design features typical for Citroen models in recent years, like "floating roof" and "multiple layered" front lights group...

it would look much better with few "creases" and "openings" less on its front and/or with better resolved design of its headlamps.... that grey plastic extension of wheel arch protections around it is as pathetic as it is hideous... but its general shape is not bad. to be true, I find its silhouette far more interesting than that of Karoq! so I'm still "permitting" the possibility that it might look just fine seen "in person"... ok. I don't ... but it might not look better than on these photos ;).

I read an interview with the Skoda Head of exterior design this week, he said something like "car design (for me) is perfect, when you can't take away any more lines". More car designers should think like that, especially japanese ones.

The last video is where anything decent is shown.

And then it's astoundingly intriguing.
