i kinda agree with CosworthKid about the front....It does have a retro touch. Even tho it looks weird and the headlights are huge, i like it...
The side is the same as the previous model so no comment needed ..
The back is boring....It does look like a crossing between the previous 1er and a polo(as u said)

Overall, it is definitely no sporty-looking car, but it has a retro-funky character that will win young potential buyers(imo)....

edit: Oh and the interior is boring as erzhik said....same concept for all bmw interiors in the last 20 years...its time for a change!

So far, I'm really disapointed - whilst the old model has grown on me every day more since it came out, this is messy - to me, the old model looked like a muscular guy, in comparison this looks like a fat one.

SOmehow, it lacks freshness, general appearance of the car is similar, but some side lines just don't seem to work with the rest of the car, and front and rear end look like the designers of them didn't really comunicate or have a look at the work of the others.

Overall, there is something wrong, more it the sense of the sum of details than in whole, but still.

I actually like it, and it's growing on me a bit, but I'd definitely prefer smaller headlights and more horizontally-oriented taillights (as opposed to...a Polo)

And here I was, thinking that the current 1-Series couldn't possibly get uglier. But boy, was I wrong... This is really a feat. Does BMW want to out-compete their rivals in terms of ugly design? The A-Class will be an alltogether different ballgame. The A3 will be bland, but at least gorgeous. So where does THIS fit?

I want to know how BMW is going to clean up this design for the coupe version that will be intended for the US market. You're right, the new model just looks a bit too "fat."

Huge improvement. Menacing instead of awkward.
