The sides look as plain and boring as the C4 this is based on.

This isn't based on the C4s platform

While I agree on a certain similar blandness, this is actually based on a new modular PSA platform (together with the new C4 Picasso), whilst the current regular C4 still uses the older 308's platform, which can trace back it's origins until the early 90ies and the Peugeot 306/Citroen ZX (though heavily updated in between)...

It's just so.... bland.... But not is a classy VW way. Just an outdated sense. Peugeot's design theme has this weird surfacing that's in limbo between Hyundai's over-the-top flamboyance, and VW's simplicity. A very odd looking middle ground. Not a fan of the tail lights and the front is meh. Nice interior though and general exterior shape. That's about all I can say.

well... its exterior is a bit bland and I was hoping it would be slightly more "dynamic"... but, when light "shines under correct angle" a lot of in metal contures can be seen...:

...so, though it is a bit boxy in its shape, it isn't plain boring... and still not too bussy with too many curves an details...

Well, at least no flaming surfaces and stuff. But really, to me it seems that the design looks a bit "we gave up and took a Golf and added minimal changes". Really close to the Euro best seller. Better than the 308 Mk. 1, but still no 306.

And i still strongly dislike the idea that basic functions like HVACs controls have no dedicated buttons, but I have to find the right sub menu on a smart phone like touch screen.....

true... they should be slightly less "reserved"...

but I believe there won't be such a big problem in finding the button for right sub menu... there's a bunch of them around the touch screen, but not as part of the screen... like on new C4 Picasso:

and did anyone noticed "the wrong way" rpm dial... :

I bet it would drive me crazy, but damn I LIKE the idea ...

Hmm, I like it, but it almost seems too conservative to me, on the outside. Then again, the 306 wasn't exactly the most daring design of its time, either...

As for the interior, I still am not sold on the logic of Peugeot's new gauge positioning but the design itself is attractive enough.

Default Conservative

Looks fairly conservative on the outside - but attractive enough and actually fairly desirable unlike it's predecessor. Interior looks great!

One thing that is worrying is that cars are seemingly getting more and more complex! You are pretty much f****d if that central ipad thingy goes wrong! Also, whilst there are plenty of older people who can cope with this sort of technology, there are others that will be put off immediately...
