It's amazing to me that the face which has a good basic style and proportion is then overlaid with a Pontiac-level of surface excitement that makes the result garish. The irony is that Honda could have made it more flashy by using tons of restraint.

Agreed. If this is what our Fit looks like, I'm happy to have the pre-facelift version. And it's not exactly a model of restraint (although I love how it looks, but then, I'm hardly objective).

Honda should gamble on a Fit sedan for the USA.

Too expensive for a Accent/Versa competitor.

Anyway, small sedans are being overtaken by Hatchbacks at this level of the marketplace.

Given how much the Civic has grown, Honda doesn't have a small sedan, but I think a Fit sedan would be great for incremental sales. Do it as a mid-level model and keep it near 17K and it would be OK.

The Civic is essentially a $20K+ vehicle for all intents and purposes.

I've forgotten the name of the "crossover" that was created by putting a body kit on a Fit, but such a vehicle could easily augment the Fit for sales.

It would NOT surprise me to see the next US Fiesta come with the "crossover" body kit as an option because that would likely make it sell more.

Possibly the ugliest car in this segment.
Need to see the facelifted Yaris in the flesh to be sure.

2018 model is official: http://www.carscoops.com/2017/06/201...-face-and.html

Wondering if those leaked photos were Euro only and limited to the Hybrid. The fascia and bumpers here are much more normal. I actually like it quite a bit.

USDM:

Sport model added.

Honda Sensing available on Sport and LX, standard on EX and EX-L. First time Honda Sensing available with a manual on the EX, but curiously not LX or Sport.

New instrument display with TFT screen on Honda Sensing cars.

Apple Car play and Android Auto.

Knob for volume adjustment on 7" screen (LX retains 5").

Oddly, CVT loses 2 hp and 1 lb/ft.

Acoustic glass and suspension changes for noise reduction and refinement.
