I don't know what styling magic can happen when the disguise comes off, but something modern would be a delight.

The last Jetta was already kind of super-sized for the class... and then the rest of the class caught up in size.

I actually think inoffensive and bland might not be so bad (if the rest of the car is decent). I think the most important thing is the price (it can't have the overly ambitious pricing of an Arteon relative to other compact-ish cars), it needs to have good connectivity options, it needs to have good fuel economy, and it needs to be halfway reliable.

Or they could try to make this a poor man's BMW again. The problem is that, if the Stinger really does start at $30,000, that could spell all sorts of problems for the GLI. I know which one I'd rather have....

I don't think there is going to be another GLI, considering how poorly the current model sells. Besides, the Elantra Sport already makes the GLI pretty unnecessary.

Yeah all segments have grown and the Jetta might as well do battle against the equally boring Camry. The Euro Passat has now become closer to an A6 if not same. The ONLY version of the Jetta that i ever liked was the 'Bora' badged one based on the MK4 Golf. That looked fantastic when it came out and still looks good today i think. Ironic how the Mk4 was one of the dullest Golfs on the road.

Heck, lets get one of these to prove again how unreliable VWs are and just not up to the toyohonda experience

Well, VWs have improved in quality. Of course, part of that is that their vehicles are ancient--the Tiguan that's now the best performer the brand has in quality surveys is in its 10th model year, so it's great to hear VW has finally engineered out the bugs. Let's see how well the new generation does.

The other part is by cutting feature content, something that's helped Nissan as well. The fewer features included, the less that goes wrong.

Presumably, it'll do horribly. The Golf, Golf Sportwagen, and A3 all have below average or poor reliability in Consumer Reports surveys....

The side is very nice. The tail a bit plain. The nose is fine. I like it. It's not as daring as it should be, but this could look wonderful as a GLI. Will it finally be MQB or is this NCS V2.0?

The design looks fine to me, but it also looks HUGE. Makes me wonder if the Passat has a future in the US with this around...
