My least favorite Mercedes saloon car as usual...yet for its target demographic this will go down like a storm IMO

Interior looks better than I thought it would. Well done!

Daylight running lights on the Classic and Elegance are nothing but classy and elegant...

Finally there's CGI on small petrol engines!

I guess the reason they only leaked one already seen before photo of the rear is that they too think its too ugly :p

Finally we have our answer to the automatic-only debate! It wont be :) and the manual gets the infortainment system controller from the C class..

Looking good, but, the wheels appear awfully small. Some of the specs were hard to see and read, but I caught the wheel sizes, and they were 16" on Diesels and V6s and 17" for V8s. The small wheels are the only disappointment, where it's been reported that 17" and 18" will be applied to the next BMW 5-Series. 16" wheels are small by todays standards, especially on the level of a Mercedes E-Class, and this new generation. Perhaps the sizes listed are the standard sizes, where 17" could be optional in Diesels (V6 Diesel in the USDM) and V6 Gasoline and perhaps 18" optional on V8s or maybe even on the V6s, too, in the USDM.
Small wheels can make a great vehicle look cheap and even ruin the stance. I've said before that wheel design and size sometimes can make or break a vehicle design.

This shot looks much better; larger (if not quite large enough, IMO) wheels, a color that really accentuates the surfacing, and LEDs up front instead of those dreadful double lamps. Still not perfect, but as SV said, it looks very solid and stately, like Benzes of old.

It does look very solid, very robust, in an old fashion Merc way indeed.

I don't like the car on paper but I have a funny feeling it's gonna look a lot better on the street. It's seems to pack a lot of stance such as the S-class A8, etc.

The biggest failure I think is the front bumper with the head lights. It doesn't seem to flow right. My final judgment will be at the car shows.

Default why don't I like it?

I was thinking for a while - why do I not like the look of the new E-class? And I think I finally figured it out. This E-class looks like: MB tried too hard to differentiate themselves from Hyundai Genesis and what came out in the end is (in my opinion) a very Korean looking car.

I don't have anything against Hyundai or Korean car in general, I am just a big fan of traditional german design.

I don't agree. In fact, I think this looks more German than the current roundy blob of a mess.

Styling would have been locked in a while ago, so I don't think they were trying to make it look different to a Genesis.

To me, it does look very much like the styling is taken from MB sedan's in the early 90's. Which is also the problem I have with it.
