to be fair, Peugeot detailing usually looks better in the flesh, even if it sometimes appear to be weird on pics. Usually Peugeots of late manage to look comparably classy, or more expensive than most non premium competitors (I will exclude the gapping mouth models of approx. 10 years ago form this specificly). And unlike Renaults of earlier (current ones look a bit boring IMO) and Citroens, they are less "not for everyone/French"....

Some exterior detailing is questionable, but overall I like it. The interior is very cool.

"Orders" usually refers to build order or the configuration of a given model (i.e. VW GTI) versus the next in line (VW Golf base model).

Such reports of "orders" by any manufacturer are suspect when it is implied that customers configured them.

Are these orders complete fabrication like the Tesla Model 3? Are they dealer inventory being pushed out as with the Chrysler 200 that were reported as orders to imply customers were teeming for the Fiatsler.

Orders can mean that a person went into a dealer and configured a car and then put it into the build order succession, but I find it impossible to believe that 60,000 individual people walked in to a Peugeot retailer and each configured a car.

Next question: What percent of sales is this 60,000 "order" business? If 60,000 is the number sold then this is referring to build order and not a stampede of customers.

In Europe, orders usually mean "customer orders with payment". Here,s till many people actually go to a dealer, configure their car in their dream color, with wheels and trim of their liking and some options, unlike the US where you usually pick up what the dealer has on his lot (though thanks to huge discounts on dealer inventory over the internet, we are shifting towards the US model as well).

Compact CUVS like the 3008 sell very well, you won't find much dealer inventory (and the percentage of private customers is among the largest in this segment, opposed to say d-segment cars or all c.segment estates with approx. 95% fleet), the Peugeot with it#s (in flesh) striking looks and good reviews especially comes with actually quite some waiting time, unless you pick up a dealer demonstrator currently.
