Default Dodge Avenger concept sketches

This is an interesting one:

I'd really like to see the method behind the madness that is the Sebring, though.

Some of those sketches actually look decent...what happened?! I know the Sebring is beyond bad, but in all honesty...I think the avenger looks worse! Especially in base model form, typically found all over rental lots.

I actually prefer the Avenger to the Sebring, but that's like saying I prefer the ZDX to the Crosstour...both are graceless pigs. How in blazes did Mercedes allow the really cool looks generated for the concept to become so utterly compromised? Too hands off? Hobble? Extending the tail of these cars 6 inches would also rid them of that near hatchback look.

The Avenger is a cheap dodge that makes the dodge neon appealing

Indeed! And ditching the Neon for the Caliber was terribly dumb.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of these ideas re-appear this fall on the facelifted Avenger. Often, the reject pile is the first place designers go when they need an idea for a refresh.
