Atmosferic engine. Now you can't get a regular 911 with one. So Porsche is capitalizing big money on that.

This car is basically a cash maker, since it's development has costed near to zero and it will be quite pricey even for Porsche standards.

I understand its relating to an older model with some significance to the brands history. However, on the latest 911 it just looks plain tacky. In a way its a good thing its already sold out, because other than collectors, its hard to see the appeal of 911 R versus any other 911 one can get with a stick shift.

The 911 R is 100% marketing. It uses the 911 GT3 body without wing, the 911 GT3 RS engine and a probably new 6 speed manual. It costs as much as a 911 Turbo. Weight saving comes from the DCT to manual conversion. It is pre-facelift "last edition". You'll be able to get the same car minus badge and some trims, for the price of a 911 GT3 when facelift comes.
