The market it's headed into is cut throat. Before Dieselgate, VW did not understand that its products needed to stand out and be competitive with the segment leaders and the Atlas reflects that. Now they need a home run and the Atlas does not seem to be it. The only way it has a hope is if it is equipped equal to the competition, priced below them, and comes with a 10 year / 100K mile warranty. VW needs to behave like Hyundai did 10 years ago.

CX9, Pilot, Explorer, Traverse, Highlander. Y'all got nothing to worry about here.

to me the true testament to how much of a fail this is, is that I now even look at the Highlander and go like, "well, it's not that bad". and I despise toyotas.

indeed.

The Explorer is on an OLD chassis that was and old chassis when Ford repurposed it from Volvo, and not for a second would I consider the all new Atlas over the designed in the 90s platform of the Explorer.

It was fine, actually. I'm not sure why he's "speechless."

Yes, but I'm hardly taking being called an American an insult on an auto forum regarding opinions of a VW crossover...

For someone who dishes it out so much you really should be better at taking it. It's not that big of a deal.

in the Atlas's defense, they've maintained better proportions than the Q7, with a front overhang that is much less telling of the FWD platform. I'm sure there will be colors (black) that will make this look good, and it likely drives 10x better than anything in its class except for the CX-9. will ultimately come down to pricing.
