Default 2018 Subaru XV

https://www.netcarshow.com/subaru/2018-xv/

Like before, an Impreza hatchback with a (lot) raised ride height, bigger wheels and some cladding. Or, last year's concept with the usual amount of toning down.

No official interior pics so far (the say it has a high quality interior, though few car makers would probably calim "now with a low quality interior made of non prmeium materials..."), but I'd be very surprised if it was any different to the new Impreza.

Like it's non raised sibling, it uses an all new platform, despite looking like a reskin.

Images of this leaked a while back (see below) which I couldn't be bothered posting (better late than never).

I prefer the current generation XV's look.

Subaru is the AMC of Japan stylistically.

WAYYYYYY too busy, seeing as the Impreza without all of this extra styling was already busy.

The only problem of this car is the lack of ~200 PS gasoline/diesel engines. Unfortunately a big problem, because if not it is one of the best buys.

I think it looks fine--exactly what is to be expected from a jacked-up Impreza with extra cladding.

I've seen a few regular Imprezas in person, and they're fairly handsome, if slightly anonymous. Certainly miles better than either the Civic hatch or the aging Corolla's latest update.

I just noticed how screwed up the cladding is around the wheels. Take a second look...they're misshapen for literally no reason.

This seems to be par for the course for Japanese vehicle design these days--the Honda Civic hatch and Lexus NX and RX are far more egregious violations. By those standards, this is relatively benign.

...none of those vehicles have cladding like what I referred to on the XV? They're all symmetrical and uniform if it's present.

I was referring to the use of misshapen cut lines that are at odds with each other, rather than cladding specifically. It seems to be a general design trend in Japanese vehicles, whether it's applied to the general surfacing or tacked-on body cladding.
