Default 2018 McLaren720s

http://www.carscoops.com/2017/03/new...er-series.html

Now official:

Engine derived from the unit in the 650s, but enlarged to 4.0l and getting new turbos, and producing 710hp, enabling 0 to 60 in a hypercar rivaling 2.8 sec.

Design is typical McLaren, a bit more drama though, which is good; Inside is a bit sober and grey for my taste, and i do find that folding instruments bit of a stupid gimmick (when exactly would I not want to see my instruments?)

On a racetrack, all you'd need is the tach, and since this is an automatic, even that is pretty superfluous.

The small screen seems to show exactly the same information as the standard screen, just smaller and less well legible. Not what I'd want on a racetrack (but then again, who is watching the instruments on a track at all, if it has an auto box anyway?))

I love how this looks...it's so futuristic. Like "Thunderbirds are Go!"

might just be meant to reduce any distraction in race mode beyond bare essentials while keeping the car street legal, which it wouldn't be without a speedometer in front of the driver. pointless...maybe. cool anyway...yes. when in street mode, you might want the bigger display for navigation, etc.

Looks significantly better than its predecessor. Nice.

The fanboys will love it. I find it plain yet simultaneously too busy. There are better looking sports cars than this. C+

One thing that Mclaren is best known for is the superb dynamics of the steering and suspension (which were the strong points of the MP4-12C way back then)

This one takes it multiple notches higher.

I look forward to the Spider Version =)

I have always like McLarens and love the way they drive; but that folding gauge cluster is super silly!

I have to agree. Whilst it does look more interesting than earlier McLaren cars, it still somehow lacks the ultimate desirability of say a Ferrari 488, or an Aventador, though I'd say it beats the "slightly dull for a Lambo" Hurracan....
