So basically it's going to look like a bloated Yaris.

That's terrible if that's how it looks like. From that angle, it looks like a fat-filled shark with a big smile and a bigger head than it's body...

After the Camry, I though Toyota was on to something... Now I see this

I don't see why anyone is understanding this. This isn't the USDM Corolla. This is only for the Japanese Market. We will get something different.

Same typical 3-box design, with the C-pillar being butt ugly. Suspension will be absurdly high, killing whatever is left of proportions, and that's about it really. The day that car companies will murder 80% of marketing firms out there, dump focus groups will be the day when US market will get interesting.

What are we referring to? It looks like a post or picture has been deleted.

The last I heard was that the 2009 North American-market Corolla will probably have an interior very much like that of the Auris but will be styled like a Toyota Yaris sedan "writ large".

I think the Corolla Axio with a different exterior would be sufficient. Just bring the Auris over as the Corolla Liftback to target the people who want something more... interesting than the sedan, as well as something to replace the Matrix with (like the Yaris' European-designed liftback and Japanese-designes sedan approach). They have Scion to cover for the younger market, either ways.

The Auris and Yaris are hatchbacks not liftbacks. They should have brought the hatch to the States if there is a demand for it. Toyota always plays it safe and by the numbers, if they think a hatch would not sell good enough they just wont bother

Despite that the Yaris is a hatchback, it's marketed as a liftback in the US. I assume that should the Auris be sold in the US, it would be marketed as a liftback, as well.
