If that is Mercedes' plan it will be a disaster
Vito maybe similar in size to the Odyssey or Sienna, it would not stand a chance on the value. If anything, livery services would be a better application, but the Sprinter is already in that market.

Also, the German OEMs typically take in very small profits on US sales anyway (with the exceptions of the SUVs built states side). And MB would have to perform crash tests per US standards. Last time I checked, NHTSA does not correlate with Euro NCAP results.

.
What I notice when visiting London and business outside of London is that the Vito has massive penetration of the personal livery market. ie upmarket cab along the lines of Boston Coach type of company.

If it can work in the US or not, it will be given a chance to find out: The V-CLass resp. the Vito are coming to the states, for reasons only known to Mercedes with a new name, Metris, as both delivery van and passenger version, starting at $28.9k resp. $32.5K, with a 204hp 4cyl. and a 7speed auto.

At least now everybody who was missing a mid sized RWD van since the Astro Van is gone, can cheer up....

It will be sold in Canada as well. I can see this selling, especially for shuttling celebrities around

Well VIP shuttle (or wannabe VIP as mini cab service at airports) is the main market for the passenger versions of these vans. Black, with darkened windows, and some poor chap with a suit chauffeuring tourists and business men form teh airport to random hotels...

;) I didn't even notice that. i guess at some point someone was aware that Rolls is still teh ultimate luxury vehicle and an open one the most decadent motor vehicle, and no pimped up S-Class will ever touch that ;)
