Default Euro NCAP Results October 2011

http://euroncap.com/Content-Web-Arti...a-pick-up.aspx

Euro NCAP has crashed 12 new cars, Audi Q3, BMW 1series, Chevrolet Captiva, Fiat Freemont, Ford Ranger, Hyundai Veloster,Lancia Tehma & Voyager, Mercedes M-Class, Opel Astra GTC & new Zafira and the nnew Toyota Yaris.

Only the Voyager scored 4 stars, which at least is a great improvement over the last generation (2 stars).

All otehr cars scored 5 stars, whcih is a good sign.

A positive surprise is that the Ford Ranger is showing that a PickUp truck can achieve 5 stars. Also the Yaris is a positive result after the disapointing 3 star Urban Cruiser....

Yes, and with a result of 96% in frontal occupants protection, it's onpar with the very best of 5 star vehicles (IMO there are only a few with the same result in frontal, but no better cars). That alone is a÷ready very impressive, given the poor results of other BOF trucks.

But 81% pedestrian protection is even more impressive, I think that's the only Off Orad/Pick Up truck/SUV with such a goood result. Every thing else with a massive front end is usually outstanding in low pedestrian protection. And all this without an active hood or ugly long overhang. SImply well done deisgn.

So, here is the update for November, with one remarkabale result:

The Chinese Geely Emgrand EC7 (taking longer to spell the name than forget the deisgn) and MG6 were chrashed officially with the group, and received both a 4 stra result. Not top, but ages away from the horrible results not so long ago.

Other 4 star cars are the new Panda (no ESP standard), the Grand Cherokee (seat nearly breaking) and surprisingly, the Jaguar XF. Also, the otehrwise 5 star Renault Megane receives only 4 stars in teh Fluence ZE electric variant.

5 stars go to the Chevrolet Malibu & Volt, Mercedes B Class & C CLass coupe, the Kia Rio, Range Rover Evoque and the VW up with SKoda and Seat sisters (ESP standard makes the differenece and should Fiat give sthg. to think about). Also, the crashed up enables a look at a standard up without alloys, touch navigation and painted interior.....
