Pretty sure his point was that minor changes can have a large impact, probably just imprecise word choice. Let's not get caught up in semantics.

Another great addition to the conversation by swizzle. If the concept of subtle changes having a dramatic impact on looks is over your head then so be it.

The concept is not over my head, but the subtle changes here have no impact.

I have to second that, like with most German premiums, the facelift has little to no impact (but more and more, so does a full model change), merely an excuse to introduce new or upgraded assist and infotainment gadgets.

I assume the number "680" is irrelevant to the engine and was simply chosen to make the Maybach sound more obviously impressive. Mandarin speakers can also be picky about how a sequence of number "sounds" (w/ a figurative translation), so perhaps the numbers were chosen for that reason (but I don't speak Mandarin fluently, so I don't know).

Possibly. But that also might be giving the target audience (anywhere, not just in China) more credit than they deserve. A friend of mine drove a Mercedes E55. A mutual friend said, "Oh, if your number is only 2 digits, that must mean it's worse than the other Mercedes E's." Uh, okay....
