Default Tata Looks for a Partner in VW, Ford

Tata is considering either partnering with VW, or selling the car production unit entirely to Ford:

Given how a Bentley nowadays is about as English as a Wagner opera, I sincerely hope VAG does not, at any point, get control over Jaguar or Range Rover.

So...Jaguar and Land Rover would be part of this? Odd if they went back to Ford.

No, it seems to be just Tata Motors--JLR would remain under Tata's corporate umbrella.

Tata Motors is really small, BTW--in 2016, it sold about 130,000 vehicles, almost all of those in India. By comparison, Jaguar alone sold 148,730 vehicles worldwide, and JLR together 583,313.

What's un-British about $200,000 over-sized coupe that weigh 5000 lbs, have FWD proportions, and garish, heavy-handed styling??? Zee British are all about burl wood, Wilton carpets, and chromed interior interiors....

Agreed. It'd be cool if Ford got them at a deal - but doubtful. It also goes against the 'One Ford' philosophy that Mullaly instilled during his tenure.

Tata + Ford is the better move given how much of JLR is still very Ford-based. Tata + Ford is a win/win.

Tata + VW is a disaster.

Just because PSA wants GM, doesn't mean everyone else should play the merger game.

One more thing. Keep Fiat's hands of Jaguar and Land Rover.

From all that I read regarding this matter it isn't planned that VW will buy Tata, but that they will just share platforms.

Buyout would be the Ford alternative reality :)
