please stop selling the CLA as soon as this hits our shores so I don't have to see any more of them! If the production vehicle sticks to these basic looks it will be 100x better

Indeed. Then factor in that despite its price, the CLA is a slow seller. Mercedes does not need two small sedans priced within pennies of each other.

It certainly can't be any worse. The CLA is a flaming piece of garbage, crude, cramped and crappily built. It's like Mercedes-Benz benchmarked the previous-generation Hyundai Elantra...and missed.

Now, now. I've driven one as a loaner and thought that the steering wheel was quite nice. So at least that's something....

Renault Megane + Mercedes body = CLA

More pics. Not surprisingly, the conventional sedan looks like... every other conventional Mercedes sedan. Too bad the car seems to retain the horrifically ugly tail lights of the current CLA.

Instrument cluster looks to be all digital.

Why does Mercedes need the A Class sedan and the CLA in a market where sedans are shrinking in volume? I'd ditch the CLA which has not aged well and go with the A Class.

I agree w/ you, but I think the Germans like to find answers to questions that nobody is asking. Why the GLC coupe? Or an X4? Or...? Perhaps they think that the Arteon needs competition?

You are generous in saying that the CLA hasn't aged well. I thought it was hideous from the outset.

I'm assuming the Arteon would compete more with the C Class in price.
