50 pounds? id do that in a heartbeat, since if you break it you wont lose sleep over it, and itll turn into a profit like you said.

My brother-in-law bought a 1st gen 900 for $50 because it had a blown head gasket and a cracked head. When he tore it down he discovered that the block was also shot given that as the turbo did its death march to destroying the gasket and head it also bamboozled the block and pistons. He wound up paying money to send it to the crusher.

Exactly. 50 is nothing for a car.

Again, excactly! Mirrors 10-!5, lights 15-20, Grille 20 at least, seats 20 a set?, plus loads of random parts that I could probably get 5-10 each for.

That's the one thing that's worrying me. I can sell the parts, and scrap metal is worth a bit in the UK. BUT... once it's stripped, I can't drive it to the breakers yard, so it'll have to be towed. It just depends on how the tow charge is.

I haven't got the car yet. The bloke selling it will let me have it as soon as he has a replacement car which was meant to be today. I'll let y'all know when or if I get it.

In the meantime.. anyone want a personalied UK plate? 'M13 RUX'? It could be perfect for a Mr M.B RUX!

Yep, pretty much. It's just got 1 small ding on the tailgate.

Well, it's mine now. Just handed over the money and got all the paperwork and history.

It seems a shame to strip it, so I might just take it down to my local garage to see how much a new head gasket would cost and then work out if it's worth doing it.

So I have 3 Saabs now. Maybe I should revert back to my original 'Classic Saab Man' username lol.

Why not get an engine at a junk yard from a 900 that was rear ended and just swap it out?

That is an ace idea!

Just need to find someone with an engine hoist and also i need to find a way of transporting an engine from the junk yard to my garage.

But yeah, as I say, it's a shame to scrap it.

I love finding cheap vehicles. The trouble is.. what do I buy and what do I leave? Today alone, I found several 1993-1997 Rangers for under $1000 all having parts I need for my '94 Splash. Trouble is.. I hate breaking perfectly rust free vehicles.

Well, you can always go to the scrap metal yard lol.

I like looking through magazines and newspapers for cars although it will be a few years until I get behind the wheel.
My first car will hopefully be a second hand WRX like this one:
