The previous Swift / Swift Sport looks so much better resolved. And those wheels look nasty and cheap.

I just chalked it up to Japanese styling ethic where ugly is celebrated. I wonder why Mazda didn't get the memo.

The BoosterJet 1.4 should make it move well but in the company of the Fiesta ST (132kW, so, err... 190ish horses?) and Polo GTi this is decidedly lukewarm. Closer in fact to the 1.6 Kia Rio. Mind you I'd contemplate one over a Ford or VW on reliability alone if they decide to release a manual one.

Well certainly Suzuki isn't going for the ultimate (especially German) horsepower war, and given how fun a really light small hot hatch is, I'm fine with it. Given the weight advantage, I could well see it - thanks to being a Turbo as well - outperform those on a twisty B-road or alike, or at least hold it's candle. And, certainly it will feel quick and less filtered than the Polo or Fiesta...

If the published weight of 870kg is accurate, it's almost 300kg lighter than a Fiesta ST, so the power-to-weight ratios are quite similar, at around 160bhp per tonne.

1,918lbs!!!! It's very light. At 138hp, it should give it up to par if not better performance than a Miata (which is around 2,300lbs and just have 155hp)

Indeed, I didn't realise this was a whole lot lighter still than the Fiesta ST... bring it with a manual and it's very good news then!

The 1st gen USDM Lotus Elise weighs around 1700-1800lbs as well and only had 118hp. And it ran 60mph in 5.2secs!!!

Well at least it's not as bad as anything Mitsubishi is doing.
