This is an oddball for Lexus, from a time where their lineup was so limited that rebadging the slow selling Land Cruiser to help fill-out the show room floor was a good idea. Same for the GX which was added to commemorate the upper class-favoring tax breaks of the Busch Administration.
The once V8 only value indulgence of the LS sedan is over in favor of an apparently efficient TTV6 and with that this elephant needs to be left off to roam the truck quarters of the TOYOTA dealer.
Because we need that showroom space for the LFA II and it's 9500 RPM V10 !

I disagree with that. Lexus does need something to fight the range rover, however. The Land Cruiser should remain as it is, but updated, because it is an excellent off roader.
Making Land Cruiser a brand with several models would make tons more money than Toyota's current squandering of the name. Of course, they would need to invest in new platforms and ditch the leathered-up, Third-World specials (GX/LX) for Lexus. The Toyota Land Cruiser has also been stampeded in the market by Jeep. Opportunity awaits, but Toyota can't see it.
