I wouldn't be surprised about a Frankfurt IAA debut. If it is already undisguised in China (and prototypes have also lost most of their classing), it can't be that far off. Question is, whether BMW cares to bother us with a "concept" before (I sincerely hope not) and then show the real thing later....

This presents a real problem for the VW/Audi. With the Tiguan easily able to swell past $30K, and the Audi Q3 starting in the low thirties, BMW could easily come in at say $29,499 and win the game. If I were in the market for a small German crossover, it would be a BMW product. And yes--I know my automotive opinion is eagerly listened to and valued by the German premium brands.;)

More undisguised shots of the new X1 from China ....... If I were BMW I would see this as a bit of a worrying trend..... but hay-ho their loss is our gain.

Certainly from what I've seen so far Audi and Mercedes ought to be worried. Its a much more balanced design than the Q3 and MUCH more of an SUV / Crossover than the GLA. That together with truly advanced petrol and diesel engines (yes Merc that's a dig at you) and I think if you were in the market for this type of vehicle in late 2015 it would almost be a no-brainer.

Question X1 7 Seater

BMW X1 Seven-Seater

Has BMW went too much into "creating" new / niche model? I think so...
