Default CSS's COTY, TOTY and SUVOTY nominees...

I tried it last year but with the move over from CSS V2 to V3 going on it didn't work as well.
These year, lets nominate some cars, trucks and SUVs for the respective awards and then we can set up the voting with these nominees so we can elect 2005's Car of the year, Truck of the year and SUV of the year.
This is what we must consider before nominating
- The car must have appeared in 2005, so that is anytime between the American motor show at the beggining of January and right now.
- The car must be a production car.
- We will nominate a car, truck or SUV only if it is a true innovation in its category, or has an important significance in the automotive industry or for the company.
Use this thread to naminate cars to the three categories
And please remember, dont just nominate any new car, nominate one that is special or dont nominate at all and wait for the voting!

Lets see how it works this year.

Also when you nominate a car, truck or SUV, please explain briefly what made you nominate the car. Here are my nominations.
- COTY: Mazda MX-5 / A car that can be trully fun to drive, at an affordable price. Many cars have tried to take a part on the market it participates, but have failed and only now does it have a true competitor, but only in the USA. Even then, the car is such an improvement over its predecesors, and brings sports cars to an affordable price so well that I nominate it for this year.
I am actually going to nominate 2 cars this year:
- Mitsubishi 380 : an important car. It signifies Mitsubishi's remaining in the market or not. A car that was developed in a way that cannot fail. A strong engine and gearbox aren't enough: Mitsubishi added one of the best interiour's out there. It won Australian car of the year already. Its a car that has nothing wrong.
As for the SUVOTY:
I have nothing smart to nominate right now either for SUVOTY or for TOTY so I will wait and see what other people think.

Hmm, this could be a very interesting thread. Here are my 3 nominations:
COTY: Mercury Milan - This car has a great potential to finally make Mercury stand out and suceed, and while it is a somewhat inderect copy (thankfully not as bad as the CSV's *shudder*), it has some of its own styling cues.
SUVOTY - Going for a green nomination here, the Lexus RX400h is my decision. It may offer some improvment over the regualr one, (about an eight mpg average), I think people will be like: "Wow, I can be green and still be in an upscale brand." It's an image thing, and it's an image thing that I think will work.
TOTY - I'm going to go out on a limb for this one, I really think the Mitsubishi Raider deserves this one. Why? Well, it may be an over-styled Dakota, but I think it's a step in the right direction of ailing Mitsubishi.

coty id say honda civic. it is selling like hotcakes. honda marketed it perfectly with rising gas prices and making a 50mpg car. and then the si comes out like next week.
suvoty again going with the hybrid with the 400h. it has great style, more power and more mileage in an suv. what more do u want?
toty i would go with maybe the f350 superduty. i dont really have a reason besides that i cant really think of anything else that stands out. besides the mega cab but i wouldnt really call that a toty but im not saying its bad either.

COTY - 2006 Honda Civic; Top in its class has won already some awards and its a Honda. Great fuel economy, great looks and materials at a good price. And also great lineup from DX, LX, EX, Hybrid and Si there is a Civic for everyone.
SUVOTY - 2006 Hyundai Tucson; Amazing standard features, good fuel economy, great pricing, Good and efficient 4WD that actually works good on or off road from what I've read, oh and cant forget Hyundai's Warranty adn lets not forget the great improvement that Hyundai has made over the last 1 or 2 years.
TOTY - 2006 Honda Ridgeline; ok so one look are worth a thousand words but this truck really grabed some attention due to its unique features like the swing out and fold down tailgate, and the In-Bed Trunk or cooler, as well as the unibody structure. Im sure the big truck makers will steal some of this truck's features on their upcoming models. But anyway this truck to me is a good truck that i dont see why people are ignoring it so bad yea probly it doesnt got the V8 and price is high. But my TOTY vote goes to the 2006 Honda Ridgeline.

Car: Mazda5. It breaks barriers and defies categorization as it provides space, utility, and style, all at an affordable price.
Truck: Honda Ridgeline. Isn't it the only significant release in this segment, anyways? Besides, a minivan that looks like a pickup is pretty ingenous. And, IMO, pretty ugly.
SUV: Lexus RX400h and Toyota Highlander/Kluger Hybrid. They're hybrids and they're fast. Two wonderful things brought together in one (or two) package(s).

First and foremost, thanks to Superfresa for once again organizing this.
That said, let's get is started!! Guidlines are fairly flexible, and are as Superfresa stated. Please do, as suggested, provide a short paragrah, for your nominees. Keep in mind, as hard as it might be, please place importance, design, usefulness and other objective factors before favorites and biases.
As for my nominations, I have three surprising ones. Can't reveal them now but stay tuned...
Lastly, I would like to ask for approval to bring last year's winners back in the running for this year's, especially since their respective importances still run strong in their classes - for your reference:
2004 CSS SUV of the Year - Land Rover LR3 / Discovery 3
http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=13231
2004 CSS Car of the Year >30K - BMW M5
http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=13230
2004 CSS Car of the Year <30K - Hyundai Sonata
http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=13228
2004 CSS Truck of the Year - Toyota Hilux / Tacoma
http://www.carspyshots.net/zerothread?id=13232
