Cadillac needs its Cayenne to slot below the Escalade and using Chevy platforms like the Tahoe/Suburban, Equinox (XT4/5) and the Traverse (XT6?) are simply NOT up to the game.

A VERY clever thing to do would be to phone up someone and ink a platform-sharing agreement to cut costs.

An RWD/AWD deal with Hyundai-Kia would make obvious sense given the building/rebuilding nature of Genesis and Cadillac respectively.
Escalade can stay on the shared platform as it's a cash cow but the next model down should be on a RWD platform, not on the Acadia/Traverse platform. if they have to platform share to get there then they should.

Can we at least agree that the Escalade should have IRS?

Very true, they should exploit the Escalade a bit better than they are. Keep it running on the common seed small block, a totally great engine and rake in the profits for even more differentiation.

Of course. Even the 10 years old Toyota Sequoia has IRS (which technically is possible to bolt on the Land Cruiser/LX - J200).

Here's a follow-up, and from Automotive News, that the "halocar" will arrive around 2022. The product-portfolio would have to be re-aligned first, with an introduction of a new vehicle every six months. There will also be exclusive V6 and V8 models, as it's also stated that the 4.2L twin-turbo DOHC V8 is Cadillac-exclusive and not shared with Chevrolet, including the Corvette. There will be much with electrification with upcoming program, previously announced, too.

I'm not sure if this "halocar" is one and the same of a production Escala, or something in addition to it. In another report, Johan states that it will not be another 3-box sedan, for the world does not need another, and there will be nothing to compete with Rolls-Royce. I'm posting this on the two threads.

Here's a link to the report: http://www.autonews.com/article/2018...180329610/1168
