DCT is ideal for racing as you can quickly row through gears. Most 911 race cars I have seen use some kind of sequential gearbox. Also, turbo is what keeps the CO2 levels low for EU.

thats an undeniable fact, but for driving enjoyment im sure we all agree a third pedal setup is best

and with a sequential its all too easy to leave it in fully automatic and text while driving

Perhaps, but manuals are dead if not now, soon. Why should people be bothered to learn how fun they are? Texting and driving is essential.

As for a dual-clutch transmission versus a conventional automatic with flippers, conventional automatics have improved so much that they are a viable alternative-ish to a manual and when you factor in the robustness of automatics versus the frangibility of many DCTs, the automatic is the way to go given the death of the manuals.

I've never been a fan of any DCT, I yet have to drive one that I find better than a regular torque converter box or a manual; What I enjoy most on automatics is the seamless pulling away form a standstill (or, a less stressful driving in rush hour), and even if I hurt my left ankle i can do better in a manual than even the better DCTs. Yes, they are quicker in acceleration at the cost of torturing the DCT box (average failure millage of them indicates who use the "quick " part often), but if I want comfort - and this is what the vast majority is looking for when opting for an auto, than a torque converter box has it licked. And, as you say, with very little penalty elsewhere nowadays;

And for pure involvement, well, a manual is still the way to go, no matter if there are some flappy paddles, sport programs, shift down (fake) exhaust cracks or launch controls are coupled to a DCT....
