I wouldn't say it looks chinese, it looks weird in some areas but fine in others, the front doesn't match the rest, almost feels like a K-car jacked up on steroids.

I doubt this thing is trail rated, I'm sure it will hit the dirt roads just fine and grass, but nothing extreme.

This is fiat panda based? feels a bit larger than the panda, honestly I'd rather get the panda 4x4.

Then again, it appears to have a Trail Rated badge on the A pillar.

I love the front, but the body has some details I'm not too fond of.

I believe this is on the Fiat 500L's platform and as pjl35 pointed out, it is in fact trail rated. That's a part of Jeep's brand requirements since 2011. The Compass was going to get discontinued if they weren't able to make it trail rated.

It's about as charming as my foot. It looks ungainly and wrong on so many levels.

That is just frumpy and silly. It's more FIAT than Jeep. Are they going to sell it at Toys'R'Us?
I so agree. It is ugly to end all ugly. I wonder whether this is another brilliant masterpiece from Ralph Gilles or did Fiat do the styling in Italy. This is the 4th all-new product from FCA for Chrysler and it seems they have two modes: bland (Dart / 200) or ugly (Cherokee / Renegade).

Pretty it ain't and pretty it isn't supposed to be. This is the toughest looking b-class vehicle by a mile.
This is just so out-there it must mean Fi-Chry has uncovered an unexploited market niche or they are just plain crazy. Time will tell, but this will be interesting to watch.

Its a helluva lot better looking and less embarrassing than the Compass. I like it. And I also like the Cherokee though (and so do a lot of people, it seems, as theyre apparently selling a ton of them)
Here are 3 more pictures
