I'd read that they are returning to their original plan; going it alone. This might be PR hyperbole - but it's what they've said.

Well, apparently it was indeed FCA who withdrew their initial offer, but I doubt because they suddenly think it is better to go alone; I guess either something else on the horizon, or the first glimpse into Renault/Nissan management was enough....

Fair; I meant that merging with Renault is dead.

FCA isn't robust enough to go it alone. They have three lines that sell well: Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. The rest is sales failure. The Italians need a merger to prop up the sales losers from Italy: Fiat, Alfa-Romeo, and Maserati.

Oh, I agree. Just pointing out what they've publicly said.

FCA will find another suitor. It might be time to chat with Hyundai again. That is a match made in heaven.

Geely is also on the prowl having grabbed a chunk of Mercedes.

Certainly both of the above would be the logical thing to do...just, when as logic played into FCA decisions? Product starvation on CUV's for Chrysler, sole CUV for Dudge is +10 years old now, introduce Alpha to N/A - and sales have been N/A.

The only thing that give me a semblance of hope is the speed in which they killed the deal w/ Renault...leads me to believe that something else might be in the works.... but again, they did say they were going it alone.

Who knows.

A mule for the Wagoneer has FINALLY been spotted running around as a Dodge Dakota prototype. It's essentially going to be a Ram with a different body, so I don't know what's taking so long. FCA needs to be in the Tahoe/Yukon/Expedition/Suburban segment. Why they weren't 10 years ago speaks to mismanagement.
