Default Best-selling cars in the world

1 Toyota Corolla 1,020,000
2 Hyundai Elantra 1,010,000
3 Wuling Sunshine 943,000
4 Ford Focus 919,000
5 Kia Pride/Rio 815,337
6 Ford Fiesta 781,147
7 VW Jetta 745,000
8 Toyota Camry 726,000
9 Chevrolet Cruze 691,000
10 VW Golf 648,000
11 Ford F-Series (e) 645,000
12 VW Passat 565,000
13 Honda Civic 555,071

These are estimates, but should be quite close to the real thing. A few interesting things to note: the Elantra nearly knocked the Corolla off its typical top spot this year, and the Cruze and Focus also did quite well (though the Focus is usually up there in the global rankings)

Interesting that worldwide the Jetta outsells the Golf. Cue the self-congratulatory speech by swizzle.

Also interesting that GM can have only ONE model in the top ten and still remain the world's largest automaker, while Ford has three and isn't even near the top.

Ha! had to google what the Wuling Sunshine, was expecting a hatch or some small sedan but the fact it is a small pickup makes a lot more sense

I think the fact that China alone gets Jettas Mk. II, Iv, V, and VI contributes to a huge batch. COunting inly one generation I guess the Golf would still easily outsell the Jetta.

Also, if saying the Jetta is only the sedan verison of the Golf ( I guess e.g. Focus combines sales of all body styles), the Golf/Jetta is easily by a huge advatage the best selling car world wide. But, ofcourse according to ertain members, VW is doing everything wrong....

I thought this too, but one thing to note is that the Jetta isn't that closely related to the Golf anymore. They might have the same platform, but the Jetta's got totally different styling inside and out and a less sophisticated suspension as well (Euro market excluded, I guess). At this point I think it's pretty fair to count them as separate models.

If we say that the Wuling isn't a car, then what takes the 10th spot?

GM would likely have 2 of the top 10 if all of their GMT900 Pickups were sold under 1 name.
