The design doesn't seem as smart as the current Scenic. Those taillights don't work well either.

I agree, this one seems as if it takes more cues from the Espace at the back but in contrast to both the current Espace and Scenic this one looks sort of rushed, as if its a facelift made to look more in-line with the new Laguna and Megane. The tail-lights are so over-used in that way now, and it looks part Citroen Picasso 7-seater and Citroen C4 5-door. I hope the end product will not look like a bloated boat on wheels

Same here, i saw some similarities with the Espace at the back and a bit of citroen C4 Picasso thrown in.

All in all, not impressed by its look: could have easily been a korean or japanese MPV but there is one good thing that came out of the dumbing down of Renault design in my opinion:
Since C.Ghosn took over the firm never have the cars look more solid and well built (i'am just referring to the way the new cars look: the paint job, the tight gaps between panels,etc...).

For all their qirky look, french cars often look fragile and badly finished, especially after a couple of years of ownership but the latest renaults look like they'll age better than their predecessors, this one included hopefully.

To be honest i only really like what i have seen of the upcoming Megane and the new Laguna Coupe so far. All other Renaults released in the past 1-2 years leave me dead cold and i feel they have already aged too much. But yeah i see what you mean, if the 2 models i mentioned are an indication of both solidity and style then Renault is in great hands

Kind of leaving me emotionless, and it's very close to the real thing.

I think the rear looks very very elegant and classy now. At least Renault is working hard at making their new design language look cohesive across the range while keeping the individuality of each model. The picture above makes the car look like an Espace sized vehicle. Are we sure this is the Scenic?

Oh yeah, it is the scenic all right.
This is the long version.
The 5 seater will have a different treatment at the back (just like Citroen's C4 picasso) the boomerang shaped tail lamps will face inwards on the short car while they face outwards on this long version.

Wtf? They used semi-clear lights??? Now the car looks like a weird cross of Ford S-Max and a Mitsubishi. Not sure if i like it...And the front..well it sort or seems as if Renault is more or less copy-pasting the new front on all their cars in an almost SEAT/Audi fashion..hmmm

Red one is extremely conservative, looks like a facelfit.

Renault won't be that boring..
