Let me know via this thread of any issues. Then if enough are ok with the change, I will make it fully live.
In general i like the new style, but there are two things that make it very unpleasant for me to the eye, so reading is much less comfortable than before. One is the dimmed text, it should be darker. The other one is the red stripes, they jump to the eye diverting the attention from the text itself. I think a less aggresive color would be welcome, be it a darker red or anything else (dark blue, dark green, whatever).

I agree reppu.. I much prefer the current dark theme. Easier on the eyes imo.

Some icons and header banners, going with whats been done above. You can load the icon into the site like an address bar favicon, and it will appear on an iphone home screen like an app icon when you save a bookmark to the home screen, depending on the code and filename it will leave the icon as it is or put the glossy highlight on it. The glossy icons here were done with an online generator thingamibob that gives the same effect. The shaded background on the headers is the same graphic as the navigation tabs across the top of the site, stretched to the size of the header.

If the Aero theme can be tweaked, I'd go with what's been said above, make the text black instead of grey to make it easier to read, and darken the bright red a few notches.

Thanks for coming up with some suggestions ajprice! :)

While I really like the idea for the favicon I think your ideas are maybe a little too thin and not bold enough.

The 'contest' is still open so if anyone has a suggestions please post it.

Yeah AJ I like the idea, just not the font. Maybe a combination of the "app" icon idea with one of bm88's fonts.

Would it be totally cheesy to maybe turn the "o" in CarSpyShots into a wheel, or a tachometer, or something?

Just noticed the Aero viewing mode; I'm not sure how I like it yet. After having the current theme for however many years, I've grown so used to it that any change is just going to be weird. I might say that no matter what I'd prefer dark colors, but it's not a particularly strong preference.
