The fact is there is no plan at Lincoln other than to cheapen the brand because they don't know what they are doing.
I know I'm harsh
You really are not up to speed with Ford or Lincoln. Do you realize that Ford has only created a separate Lincoln organization in the past year? Before that, Lincoln was treated as an afterthought, just like Mercury. From the time Mulally took over Ford until the past year, the focus has been on survival, then reviving the core Ford brand.
With that mission well under way and reaping consistent profits in a down market, Ford has now turned their attention to Lincoln. Lincoln has been given its own design team (a first), as well as other bespoke organization. We know from Ford's public announcements that Lincoln will have bespoke sheet metal, top end electronics, hard top convertibles, and more. Ford cannot rush the products to market, they will come forth through the normal product gestation. We will see the new MKZ at either LA or one of the early 2012 auto shows. Those who have seen the clays (journalists, not homeboys) say it is stunning and noteworthy. We have to wait and see.
Everything you wrote might have been true a year or so ago, but is no longer the case. Instead, you come off as uninformed and rash.
