Default 2015 Mitsubishi L200 Triton

Ugly... Hopefully it'll be re-designed in 2 years like the Outlander and Mirage...

The lower air-dam/fog light/bumper integration = WTF were they thinking!?!
Grille = garish overdone (90's like)

Well, those areas are by far the worst. The grille looks Chinese in it's vulgarity, but the rest is okay, just not overly modern. Looks like it could have been around several years. The interior again, okay, but the touch screen radio looks like an aftermarket unit from ca. 2006. So again, detailing letting down. One can only hope that Fiat will get those details right in their version...

Totally agree, the front end has got the looks only a blind mother could love. But to me the problem with this design goes beyond its ugly lines. This truck has none of the styling cues that Mitsubishi will be using across its lineup (previewed by the GC-PHEV, XR-PHEV, AR-PHEV and Outlander PHEV Concept-S), particularly the nice corporate grille of the concepts.

Since it will soon be an odd face in Mitsubishi's stable, my bet is that it will be seeing a redesign 2 years after its launch date.

The whole thing is an ugly, disproportionate mess. The competition must be ROTFLOL.

Is Mitsubishi trying to run themselves out of business?

They'll withdraw from the North American market soon. Like Suzuki, they are as dead as a dodo.

As unlikely as it seems (and I have no explanation how it can be actually), it seems Mitsubishi USA will actually post a profit

Still, in mid term, their lineup and upcoming models are giving little hope

Well, actually MMC has been doing pretty fine financially with increased sales in the past few years.

They just announced their results for the first half of fiscal year 2014. Net income increased 30% year on year.

I doubt that and am willing to bet against them pulling out. Mitsubishi isn't Suzuki.

Suzuki is a healthy company but with products that are better suited to some overseas markets (mainly Japan).

Mitsubishi's planned product line should appeal to US consumers. In a couple of years they will be reintroducing the Montero built on a monocoque chassis, a brand new Oulander Sport and a heavily facelifted Outlander. Based on the concepts, their upcoming product line, new designs and corporate fascia in particular should look very nice.

One thing they have under their sleeves is hybrid-electric technology, which will be available in most of their SUVs.

So the outlook is positive.

Meanwhile their sedan offerings are a joke and a half.
