Default 2019/20 VW Tarek (sub-Tiguan SUV)

Couldn't find a thread for this one. Appears to be what the US is getting instead of the T-Roc, to be revealed in China later this year.

Hard to tell for sure, but I'd bet this is essentially a re-nosed Seat Ateca/Skoda Karoq. The doors appear to be the same on all 3, and the size would be about right since it's about 10in. shorter than the Tiguan Allspace.

Yup, that's a SEAT Ateca with a Volkswagen Atlas-style face pasted on the front. The crease along the shoulder and the kick up in the rear quarter window give the game away. This is to the Ateca as the new Tarraco is to the Tiguan Allspace.

Oh that is so exciting, a gap between Tiguan and T-Roc. And yet another rebadge. I'm excited....

So the TRoc is MQB and this is MQB and they are the same size and will pull from the same engines, so how is it that the TRoc is too expensive to build for non-European markets? This is just another example of VW's stupid engineering.

T-Roc is more like just a lifted Golf, while Ateca/Karoq is a regular SUV size of the old Tiguan.

VW tends tos ee a lot of CUV/SUV niches lately, and we are apparently getting most of their cars with 2 to 3 badges. No shortage of choice.

The whole "one thing is too expensive for the other market" is of course BS, all MQB cars use the same components, engines and electronic systems (well that is the sense of a platform), and the T-Roc manages to have an interior that is amazingly cheap in terms of material quality. How on earth it is more expensive to build than a Seat Ateca (which this Tarek is, with a different grille)? Maybe the magicians at VW know....

It looks to be a SEAT Ateca with different front indeed, but as the Ateca isn't on sale neither in China nor in the US, this shouldn't bother nobody (in fact nobody gives a f**k about the Ateca and Skoda Karoq are twin sisters, most people probably don't even recognize it actively).
I agree the official word of VW of T-Roc being to expensive is BS, this built in China and Mexico for the respective markets will definitely benefit the costs of course. And design wise it is much more in line with Tiguan and Atlas (if that is a plus lol).

ok so the SWB Tiguan was too small for NA, so we got the Tiguall All-Space here, and now they're giving us a "special" euro Tiguan SWB with a different name and face? good grief.

Not only that, I read today that they will present a five seater version of the Atlas to fit between the Tiguan Allspace and the 7 seater Atlas next week lol

Which was basically the size of a lifted Golf.
