This is exactly the same size as an EcoSPort (and with the same tall/narrow/small wheels 3rd world proportions), just moire expensive (and an even less nice interior, if the T-ROc is anything to go by). Unless they manage to produce it locally at a very cheap price I doubt it would make any noticeable impact in the US....

And yet they keep saying how they are going to make a big push with crossovers in the USA. LOL

More teasers, including the interior;

Inside you get the apparently standardized currnet small VW dashboard found in Polos, T-Rocs or Jettas, but with a (not radically) new steering wheel design finally (the current one has been around since the GOlf Mk. 7 launch in everything form up! to Arteon). Probably, to compensate for the new steering wheel, the switch gear for HVACs and other stuff (low don in the center stack) does look remarkably old actually, like it was taken form a ca. MY 2000 VW)

The rumored VW/Ford collaboration has tremendous potential benefit for VW.

The outdated Explorer (soon to be replaced) is actually a lot better than the much newer Atlas.

The outdated Escape (itself based on a previous design and about to be replaced) is better than the new Tiguan.

I suspect the baby Bronco and the "Mach 1" electric crossover are also likely to be worlds better than anything VW has.

Factor in the Ranger and Bronco and their ability to replace the Amarok and Touareg with superior products that meet price targets would be manna for VW.

I'd drop the Touareg, replace it with with a reskinned Bronco and a new name.

The Q7, Q8, Uterus, Bentiguan, Cayenne, and Cayenne coupe can continue to share a platform, but the Touareg is simply wrong sized for its price and wrong priced for its size. The Atlas renders the Touareg redundant.

The (rather officially discussed than) rumored VW/Ford collaboration is only for commercial vehicles, so the only model of your list that could be a matter of discussion is the Amarok / Ranger, and yes, this would make a lot of sense. Maybe VW could get a version of the F150 as well, wouldn't make sense to develop a pickup of this size on their own.

Is the new Touareg even available in the US? I thought it has been replaced there by the Atlas anyway already.

Actually you're dead wrong. VW and Ford are in talks for wide-ranging collaboration on products well beyond commercial vehicles. Try to stay up with the news.
