Looks pretty decent while not being polarizing, which is rare for Nissan passenger car design. A shame it's not destined for Australia.

There's nothing essentially wrong with that car, but the C-segment in Europe is so crowded, that I don't see why you would choose this over any established competitors, especially when even the cheaper offerings have some rather competent players (Hyundai, Kia, Ford Focus can be cheap as well in Europe).

Furthermore, even when entering a Nissan dealership, i have a hard time picturing why I wouldn't leave with the very competitively priced Qashqai instead....

Btw., i did notice that it doesn't seem to share any sheetmetal with the Nissan Tiida, yet it seems to look nearly identical.

Looks good. They should bring it to the US as a Sentra hatch.

The Pulsar or the Tiida? The Tiida basically is a Sentra hatch. The Pulsar will look completely different.

Now I'm confused--is this basically a mildly restyled Tiida?

The Pulsar. It can look different and still be sold under the Sentra name here...that's what they did with the Note (making it the Versa Note).

Or, just keep the Pulsar name, but it would get Nissan into the Focus hatch/Elantra GT/Forte 5 door competition.

I am just honestly having a hard time believing the Nissan will compare to the GTI. Nissan's interiors are often clunky plastic and super cushiony rental car like. The exterior won't really stand out in Europe, quite a few other cars in the segment are better characterized.

I thought Nissan had a hatch in this segment but guess it does not, only the Leaf. Much better than the previous model it replaces, but I still feels Nissan took the safe route with the design, maybe it's the headlights.

Nissan is so weird. In Australia, the Pulsar is the Tiida hatch and the Sentra sedan, which won't be changed. This new hatch--which is just a lightly restyled Tiida--will only be sold in Europe.
